Brake Proportioning Valve reset? 2001 1500 4x4 rear ABS
01 Ram 1500 5.2L 4x4, rear ABS.
Does anyone know how to reset the brake proportioning valve?
I just replaced all the metal brake lines, front and rear. Fronts are working great, but I still have the brake dash light on and I get no fluid when bleeding the rear wheel cylinders.
To my knowledge, all I have to do is mash the pedal and hold it for a few seconds, and it should release the proportioning valve.
Am I doing something wrong??
Let me know... Thanks!!

Might as well delete it. No issues since I did it. A new hose will come with all the necessary stuff to do it except for the u-clip. But if you must keep it, then you could just pop the rod off the axle tube and push it up to open it up to bleed it.
I think you're referring to the brake distribution block at the rear brake hose. This is not what i'm talking about... I'm talking about the proportioning valve right after the master cylinder. It's currently locked so only the front brakes are working, and not letting fluid flow into the rear brake lines..
I'll give this a try... I'll try it at the ABS block (for the rear wheel ABS) first, and if that doesn't work, then the proportioning valve itself... Thanks for the tip!
Ya I was thinking the height sensing proportioning valve on the left rear frame rail. A 1500 probably doesn't have one, sorry.

Yep that's what I was trying to convey is to go line to line to line from the master cylinder to abs to prop valve and so on. It should eliminate any air pockets whatsoever. Let me know how it turns out.
I realize this is an old post, but....what happened with yours? My issue is similar, replaced everything at the rear, right rear especially grabs and locks up..on the valve there are two small valves with rubber caps on them, one bottom, one top. My top one when brakes are applied, little plunger pops up, one on the bottom of the valve does nothing..

What are you driving? 2 or 4 wheel abs?
