Default So sick of this truck!!! Next tranny issue:

Well the tranny quit so i took it out found the reverse drum to be broken and the sprag shattered so i replaced everything and put it all back together. Now that i did that, and put everything back together, i can't get the transmission to shift out of park. Its not any of the linkage because i unhooked that and tried to do it down by the actual tranny and i get nothing....any ideas?
Thanks

Don't want to sound like a dick and I've never worked on one, but it seems you hosed the rebuild in one way or another.

yeah, it sounds like something is jammed inside there... You will have to remove the tranny, and take it apart again... bogus dude... Good luck...

Default park lock rod!?!?!?!

well good news! it seems i didn't screw anything up, bad haha, the problem is the park-lock-rod is not seated in the overdrive gear properly and thats why it can't shift! so now i just have to figure out how to seat it properly

the park rod slides in and out of a sprag which allows it to engage/disengage the overdrive drum thus putting the truck into park.

Good news - you don't have to remove the tranny. you may get lucky enough to push it back into place with just the pan off. If not, drop the valve body and then push the rod into place. You will feel it seat.

Here is a pic of the cogs in the OD drum that the park sprag digs into...

Here is a pic of the OD case and the sprag where the park rod fits into. Its just above and to the left of the "overdrive clutch pack" arrow. http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?...pid=404015&ck=

good luck

Yeah though, like Gobbell said, the parking rod just links up to your valve body. What you may want to do is just drop your valve body out, disconnect the c-clip that holds the rod onto the valve body piece, and then mess with just the rod. After you get it all figured out, then reconnect the rod to the valve body arm and bolt the valve body back up. I ran into a little issue during my rebuild where I couldn't get my truck down into drive. Turns out what happened to me was on re-install of the oil pump I snapped a seal ring and it bound up my valve body. You may want to take a good look at the valve body to make sure there is no garbage/debris in there binding things up.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your help!!! i got it figured out and fixed! it drives fine now! everything seems okay...

One thing that it is doing however is being a bit sluggish when i come to a stop and then go again, i guess some people call it slipping....
Any ideas?

Thanks!!
