Default Tires and power

Couple questions for someone out there that can help me out please. first of all i have a 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2L 318. i want to know what the biggest off road tire size is that i can put on it with out getting lift kit or modifying the fender wells. and second would anyone suggest a programmer for it and if so what brand. and finally does anyone know wut kind f power adders i can buy for my truck that are not outragously expensive

265s fit no problem. Most are around 31-32" in size. You can probably get 33" tires to fit without mods, but it will depend on what offset your wheels have and whether your stock suspension is sagged. Truck that age it's a good bet it sits a little lower than when it rolled off the assembly line.

Most ppl get a superchips 3175 or 3815. They are just about the same. Its a plug and play deal. Ppl get them used for around 250.

for tires you could try 285's.
but like said above it depends on your offset of your rims if they rub or not.

I have 285's on a stock rim and they only rub at full lock.

You should be able to squeeze a 285 tire in there nicely with no or minimal rubbing. But they will effect your performance with 3:21 or 3:55 gears.

I don't believe a Superchips will work on a '97. My listing shows 98/up. You might check hypertech.

You might want to look around the forum a bit and do some searches. Lots of info to be found without having to create new and redundant threads.

Thats what a superchip does. You can put on new headers and or roller rockers 1.7.

Chips usually don't work well on our trucks. Tuners are the way to go, and give you more options than a chip.
