Default New to the Fourm with a cruise control question

I am new to this Fourm, and have found some real good information so far. I am currently in process on my 4th 2nd Gen Ram. I bought i about 2 weeks ago, so far so good. One thing I have noticed is when i use the cruise, it surges 100-300 rpm with no change it speed? It occurs on flat road. My previous 3 Rams never did it. All had cruise. Its a 5.2 with 62k on the clock, the trans shifts fine. When I did the royal purple fuild change, the filter was clean, and according ot the dealer I bought it from, it was recently serviced. I apologize if this question has been answered before. Is a trip to my trans guy in my future?

It only does it when the cruise control is on? Then there's a problem with your cruise control.

Could it be possible that he has a very small vac leak, and the control is losing the set, and trying to correct it?

Yes only happens when cruise is on. And I'll start looking for vac leaks, thanks.

Look under the battery tray for a vac leak.

That's the first thing that came to mind when he said it surges, but I don't think the TPS will effect the CC in this manor. Never know I guess. Does it surge in overdrive without using CC? If it does then Purples advice is right on. Or atleast close, could be a tranny issue also.
