Default Mirrors

I have a 98 1500 and want to put the new style mirrors, the ones that flip out, on my truck. I was wondering if anyone on here has either done this or thought about doing it. I think I should be able to find a set of decent mirrors at a junkyard or something. I hope to get some good info.

i dont think so, the only reason i say that is if you go to LMCtruck, they sell those mirrors for the 03 and up but dont list anything for the 2nd gen, i used to think they were the same, but now i think the angles are different.

That's exactly what I saw when comparing the two. I saw a gas company truck yesterday that was a second gen with the flip out towing mirrors on it. Can you get them for a second gen?

I had them. I think they will fit. Did they change the body style a lot in the 3rd gen?

I believe the only change between the 2nd and 3rd Gen towing mirrors are the mounting stud locations. If you can get around that, the mirrors are otherwise identical. There is a 2001 1500 Ram I always see near my work that has them, and I see a red Chevy 2500 ('03-'07 body style) that has them always going past my house in the morning, so if you can fab up a way to mount them, you're good to go. Also, they were a stand-alone option (they didn't come with any package or anything), just a $100 option on their own. You could get them on a V6 Ram, and you could get a diesel 3500 with standard mirrors.

All you guys are wrong....03-up mirrors will not fit. If you saw them side by side, you would immediatly tell they are way different.

Now, they do make the flip-up mirrors for our 2nd gens, in both manual and power+heat. They are about $330 a SET, not piece.
