Default leaf spring swap?

I have an 00 dodge ram 1500 sport. Can i swap the leaf springs in from a 2500? I know this doesnt make it a 3/4 ton, but i assume it could help with my payload. Thanks.

You could, but you're going to have to do some cutting and welding as far as the perches and stuff go. The the 1500 springs are 2.5 inches wide, and the 2500 springs (at least on the V-10 and diesel, not sure about the 5.9 v-8) are 3" wide.

I was told here a while back that if you get the ones from a 318/360 2wd that they will fit, and that they are a 6 leaf stack rather than a 4 leaf stack. The 4wd and bigger motor sizes use bigger rear springs.

But hey, I aint tried it yet i am just going off of what was told to me.
