Ok, 3/4 ton trucks were offered with dana 60/70/80's in the rear, it just depends on what the motor and the tranny setup is. Deisels with a manual got the 80's, while the 5.9 with the auto got the 60. I think the v10 and deisels with an auto got a 70.

Anyway, all the talk about the front axle has nothing to do with this thread. This guy has a two wheeler he is looking to put a 60 rear in and wants to match the front bolt pattern with the new rear.

To the OP, sorry, but I cannot help you with your question. But there are several people on this site that probably can. Good luck!

I have aquired a Dana 60 spicer out of a 2001 2500 with the same 3.55 rear end but with disc brakes and I want to change out my axle. The problem is what options do I have about converting the front end. Can I just change out the hub and it fit or do i need to change out the knuckle and some other suspension parts so that it works. Need some Ideas thank you so much. Pictures hopefully will come soon. Still working on the engine. Placing a 14x3, long tubes, debating on a cat, with a major exhaust.

That is correct. The 2500 was a gas burner with 4 wheel antilock brakes just like my truck. It would be an definite upgrade from my 2wd drivetrain along with the fact of picking up the benefit of having 4 wheel disk brakes. The question I asked was would the eight lug hubs off of a 2500 fit on the spindle of a 1500 or what would I need to change to make it work. I want 8 bolt hubs on my 1500.

In my 2500 02 ram (5.9 gas) the rear is dana 60 and front is 44.

Welcome, you are in the right place. i have an '02 2500, we are in fact 2nd gens..... the very last, and the very best . If you have a D44 front then you will have a light duty 2500 as all the HDs came with 60 fronts, like me

i wouldn't mind having dana 60s on my truck, but don't want to go to the trouble of converting it
I thought my truck had a Dana 80 in the rear...

edit - now I see where someone else posted the explanation

Yep, you do, since you have a diesel with a manual tranny.

nope, you'll need the whole axle
the 9.25 is a semi floating axle
the 60/70/80 axles are full floating axles, hubs are completely different

He is completely swapping the rear axle with a 60. He wants to know what he has to do to get his front end (2 wheel drive) to have 8 bolt hubs.
