Maybe a water pump bolt leaking down the inside of the timing cover? I am just grasping at straws here. If I could see it I could figure it out but over the net through type is tough.

after thinking it over, it really is only is 15 or so bolts to have it back down to the block/timing chain.

ill take it back apart tomorrow, and hope that i dont mess up the oil pan gasket and re-assemble.

the weird part is everything went back together ok. no binding or forcing or anything, so its just hard to see how something could have gone wrong.

ok, so lemme ask this.

is there anything i need to know that i might be missing?

black RTV on the bottom of the timing cover where it meets the oil pan correct?

nothing special needed for re-installing the timing cover?

Nothing I can think of other than what you have already stated.

Maybe it is leaking from the coolant inlet?

I'm just shooting at the moon here, but could it be the rubber bypass hose on the top of the water pump. I've seen some on the DF that thought it was one thing leaking, then they come to find out it's the bypass hose. best of luck.

A couple bolts in the timing cover DO infiltrate the water jacket. Pull the bolts on the timing cover, put coolant resistant RTV on the threads and reinstall. I've also heard that Nickel Antiseize works as well.

yes i know, this is not where it is leaking from.

it is leaking from the last oil pan bolt on the driver's side that goes through the flange on the timing cover. the timing cover is threaded and the bolt goes through it, completely, you can see the end of it if you open the hood and look carefully
