Overhead computer not working
hey ppl, I am not sure whether I have a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen ram. It is an 02',1500, 4.7 L. Today it was like 100 deg. Fah. outside when I got into it at the end of the work day. I did not notice till I got home 15 minutes later, that all the overhead computer readings were blank slashes. No outside temperature, no est. mgp, no trip meter, nothing. But the lights were on, like it says, MGP, TEMP, etc., just blanks after that though. No readings. Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this problem? Any help appreciated, thanks, Curt H.

It is a 3rd Generation Ram. Pre-1994, 1st Generation. 1994-2001 for 1500s and 1994-2002 for 2500s and 3500s are 2nd Generation. 2002-2008 for 1500s and 2003-2009 are 3rd Generation for 2500s and 3500s. 4th Generation are 2009+ for 1500s and 2010+ for 2500s and 3500s.
Perhaps a moderator could move this question over to the 3rd gen section for you.

sounds like a CCD data bus issue, not a cheap or easy fix. Sometimes the bus gets messed up by one sensor, but not always. Try checking the connection at the ambient air temperature sensor to see if it's loose. Mine is connected to the grill on the inside of the engine bay. Not sure where it's located on the 4.7L
