1st I heard of that, then again you guys probably got more sprinklers than we do here.
Is that mostly agricultural, or what ?

Sprinkler systems are required on every commercial building in the United States including parking garages now and coming soon to your neighborhood every new house that is built will require sprinkler systems.

Yeah the ICC(International Code Council) just enacted sprinkler systems into law for the 2009 IRC under 13r sprinkler systems. There was a big write up in the paper about it. Your dad will have his hands full in about 4 months when it goes into effect and grandfathering of current permits for houses run out.

Sounds like a good racket, not sure if they are unionized here, I would imagine so.
I'm in a carpenters union, I'm usually up to speed on union stuff.
Maybe that falls under the plumbers/pipefitters union here, don't know.
Then again, I'm mostly into the industrial side, and don't get into much residential or commercial, where those guys would most likely be working.

Yeah that's a plumbers/pipefitters job for sure. I only deal with the other trades when I do inspections. I just finished a class and certification for Building Code Official today. Like pulling teeth with rubber pliers kind of fun.
