Default How do I find a transmission crossmember?

Obviously, by the title of this post I'm a complete novice when it comes to vehicle repairs... but I didn't think I'd have such a hard time finding a part for my new (used) '97 1500 RAM.

If I call local wreaking yards they know what I want, and none of them have one - if I look online for a new part, I can't actually find anything that's called a transmission crossmember. Even looking on the parts exchange sites I can't see anything that sounds like what I need...

the manual calls it a crossmember, but is there another term for it? Or is there a way to find out the part number?

help?

dak.

This won't be the exact picture for yours I don't believe, but this is one. It is meant for lowered trucks so you don't scrape the stock crossmember on stuff. Gives you a little more ground clearance.
