But you forget that I live in California. Believe it or not, on the average we pay 30 to 40 cents more than the rest of the nation all the time. We pay for the privilege of living here. Not to mention the privilege of paying higher taxes, getting poor state services, congestion, bad air, bad roads, and the list goes on and on. I'm sure MiamiSon can attest to this.

Are you 100% sure your speedo is correct?

I didn't think they weighed that much more.
I had a 1995 Dakota 4x4 Extended Cab that weighed just over 4000 lbs with me in it. Ram 1500 Quad Cabs weigh what, 5200 lbs? I've seen several 4x4 regular cab short box trucks weigh in at around 4600 lbs, supposedly.
I guess the Dakotas are lower to the ground to, which helps.

Yep. I took it pretty easy that tank, I normally average 15-16 doing the same driving. It'll touch 20MPG and then some on the freeway.
Also besides the weight difference my truck also has a 5 speed which has a good advantage over the auto in fuel mileage. The roller rockers, manifold and exhaust also help it a little.
