You'll get a CEL. Get one at a JY. A U-pull it if possible.

Quick check, just pull of the evap solenoid purge valve and blow in tube connection, if you can blow thru it its leaking.
Do you mean blow where the larger two hose connect od the smaller vacum line? I pulled mine and disconnected everything and I can blow through on the larger hose connections.

couldn't you just get a good solid piece of plastic and epoxy it over the hole?

If i can't find one cheap, I'm going to try. The hole is at the bottom edge so it might be a little tricky. Plus all the charcoal is gone.

I did the fuel pressure check and got 45 when running, after shutting it off, it drops down to 10 in about thirty minutes.

It should hold a little better than that, but it's not a big deal, and that would be the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel pump or leaking injectors, which has nothing to do with a evap canister with no charcoal and a hole.

From reading this thread "Quirky starting" I understand it could be the fuel pump or the evap solenoid. Didn't mean to get things off track.

If you're trying to ghetto that canister back together, why can't you just get some charcoal at a pet store. I remember in the old days I used to get charcoal for aquarium filters and such. I dunno if they still have that stuff these days.
