Default Can I switch the bottom cushions of my front seats?

The driver seat of my truck is worn out, but the passenger side is perfect. As a cheap and quick fix I wanted to simply switch the bottom (seat part) of the front seats...so the bottom passenger part is moved to the driver seat and vice versa.

I'm away traveling, so I don't have the truck with me...but last time I looked at it I can see that it's rather simple to unbolt the seat frame from the body. After that, has anyone ever taken apart their seats. Any one know if what I'm suggesting is simple or complicated? I don't have any special tools for removing seat fabric...only regular sockets and wrenches.

thanks!

I don't know if you can switch them, but what I did to mine is added about 2 inches of carpet padding to the underside of the foam piece on the driver's side chair. You have to puul the seat out and then undo the cloth or leather so you can life the foam up to get the padding under it.

What happened to mind is, the seat foam sits on top of a spring thing and over time, the spring cuts into the foam. Placing something between the foam and the spring lifts it back up and makes the seat feel much better.

Yes, you can switch the seat bottoms. Just the foam though, not the cloth or leather cover.

I did mine over a year ago. Very easy to do just remove the seat bottom not the frame and swap it across. You'll need a small ratchet and something like a 10mm socket.

If you swap it, you'll still have a crappy seat though. It'll just be on the passenger side. Just put 1-2 inches in between the foam and the bottom spring under the seat. Trust me, it works and it's easier than disassembling two seats.

Yes you definitly can switch the seat bottoms. I did mine and am glad that I did. Worst part was skinning up my hands on all the sharp edges under and around the seats.

Lol, who cares about who has to seat in that seat, if the driver aint happy, the rest of the passengers aint gonna be either... Unless you have a pissed off wife riding next to you.

if they want to ride in your truck they can put up with the crappy seat just like my passengers have to put up with my cracked windshield. the crack in my windshield will make you go crosseyed if your in the passenger seat but it doesn't bother me because i don't sit over there and i'm not gonna fix it till that thing shoots over in front of me.

Most windshields are crap these days but I was pleasantly surprised with what I got in mine. Knock on wood, mine is in perfect condition, but one time I was on the highway going like 65mph and this truck in front of me kicks up a rock about the size of a half dollar. It was the weirdest thing ever. I could see that rock coming at me in slow motion and I just remember thinking "Oh ****!" Well, that sucker hit the windshield and bounced off. Left a little nick in the glass but no crack. I couldn't believe it, but I wasn't going to have it happen again. I got out from behind that truck real fast.
Just thought I would share that wonderful story for no reason at all. =)
