Yea, I myself just picked up some of that duck brand self adhesive sponge tape weatherstrip cause my foam strips on the right and left were falling off. I dont think these will fall off..Atleast i hope not. It looks pretty neat and nice now. But lets wait till it gets wet and beat by the heat. THEN we will see if it was worth it or not. I did prep the area real good with degreaser so it should stay. I got a 10 foot roll for around $3 i think, Not bad at all...

you can buy a new hood to cowl seal (and any and all new seals, fitted) from LMC Truck.

Oh yea, they will. Mine were getting all wacked out so I pulled them up, cleaned everything off (especially that sticky glue tape off of them) and reapplied them with panel adhesive. Looked great for a few months, then they too started to move around. If panel adhesive wont hold, I doubt that 3M sticky tape will hold for long since that's what the originals came with. They're still holding, but I can see they have moved.

A long time coming but here is my response (I am the original op)

The spark plugs helped a little but not for long.

I ended up replacing the top end intake gasket with a hayes kit and the map and a water pump.

It runs correctly (no miss), MPG is better, but still has about as much power as a wet blanket, don't get me wrong its still better than it was back then but stomp on it and it just makes noise but accelerates about the same as half throttle.

It now has 80,000 miles

I also get a strange noise if I am idling and put it in neutral, sort of a grinding like noise every once and a while.

Not sure if a low mile transmission could be the source of the poor acceleration or not but I did have the electronics on the thing replaced around 55k because it wouldn't down shift even at a stop, I had to shift it manually like a manual transmission.

Ah well

have your catalytic converter tested. Sounds like yours is clogged. (A common problem on these engines, due to the blown plenum sucking oil.)

Thanx, I will check out the cat.

Another issue is that when I am coming to a stop I sometimes get a small burst of antifreeze smell, I can't seem to locate it but it seems very odd.

My fluid levels don't seem to change much though.

Could be your heater core has a leak.

Looks like I get an occasional coolant drip on the bottom of the engine to the rear between the pan and the transmission, not sure what that would be from.

It seems to leak when I start the truck and stop and leak when I am coming to a stop after hot and then stop.

Very slow leak otherwise.

Also looks like the o2 sensor will be a pain in the *** (by the looks of things its probably welded in the bung)

Ah well.

Rear freeze plugs in the block like to corrode, and start leaking. Only way to fix 'em is to pull the engine, or trans, for access..... Quite a bit of work for a 2 dollar part.
