ABS Brake issue- always on
I tried seaching but ABS Brake must yield too many results.
So I've had some past brake issue with sticking and pulling. I finaly got this all worked out with pretty much everything new from the lines at M/C to the rotors. After completing all this everything was working well no sticking, no pulling.
So fast forward. The truck has been sitting for several weeks. I go to make the Home Depot run and hit the first stop sign on my road and the ABS kicks in and fights my braking efforts. Next stop sign same thing. So now the ABS pretty much kicks in for any braking event and you get the shudder and pedal effort increase for every stop.
So any ideas where to start on this one?

That seems to be a pretty common problem with these 2nd gens. I've had two Rams with that problem myself, but my ABS is only bad when I'm slowing or stopping after exiting the freeway. I really hope someone out there has a good solution for us.
What other information do you need?
My pedal is not low or close to the floor board for this. It's pretty much at the top when it activates. If I really stand on it I can eventually overcome the ABS, the pedal will drop quickly and the brakes will come on hard.
I'll put re-bleed the brakes on the TODO list for this weekend.

Ok, here are a few ideas to try. You can bleed your brakes to make sure there is no air or moisture in the lines. Check the vacuum line to your power assist behind the M/C. Make sure there are no cracks. Check out the speedo sensor on top of your pumpkin. Maybe one of you has a bad M/C. Something is definitely wrong on the one where the pedal goes to the floor. Bad ABS unit, bad rotors, bad calipers. If it pulls or shudders I would think one of the rotors may be warped or one caliper is not applying equal pressure as the other side. Look at the Haynes manual and see if it has any tests for the ABS unit or M/C. Some ideas off the top of my head, hope they help.

Here's the update. I bled the brakes today and it didn't fix the issue. So next on the list was that I pulled the ABS fuse and relay in the box under the hood and now the issue is gone. Brakes work just fine no fighting the ABS to get stopped. So I'm guessing I have an ABS unit issue. Anyone know how to diagnosis what part is bad? Or do you have to get the entire system that's next to the M/C?
I guess worst case is I use some black electrical tape to cover the ABS and Brake light and leave the fuse out.
