Lightbulb Replacing Vibration Damper

Hello all - first to this forum (but not new to forums). Performed a search on the subject; didn't quite find anything specific such as a DIY. Either way planning to replace the damper (aka harmonic balancer) tomorrow and was wanting to solict some feedback from those who have went down this road. I have the factory manual - the whole process looks pretty cut 'n' dry. Any comments on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
-Jason

Can't you just put a speedy sleeve in it?

if he is replacing the dampner, then the sleeve isnt going to do anything because the surface of the balancer where the seal touches isnt warn, the sleeve just corrects the groove that is normally cut into the balancer snout. speedy sleeve kits normally come with the sleeve, thread locker, and a new seal. so in this case, a new seal is fine.

make sure you get the correct balancer, the 5.2 and 5.9L engines are different.

Also use caution and only push the new balancer on in the center not the edges or you'll hose the rubber center and have a worthless balancer.

Who are you buying the balancer from? There was a guy just recently on bionicdodge that had a new balancer from Hughes fail and destroy a freshly rebuilt block.
