Default 2001 Ram 1500 3.9L Fuel Problem?

Hello,

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 3.9L with 55,000 miles. It seems like when I try to start the truck first thing in the morning, I have to turn the key a couple of times. Once the truck is warmed up, it starts up fine. It also idles a little rough. I had a couple of times when the engine was about to die when the engine was cold and I started to press the gas from a standstill. It seems like this happens when I first start the engine in the morning and don't warm up for a couple of mins. The car does not have a CEL or codes. The only tune up I have done is changed the spark plugs.

I am suspecting the fuel pressure regulator is bad. I wanted to check the fuel pressure on the fuel test port near the engine. I am planning to buy the following fuel pressure tester from harbor freight.

Will the adapters in this kit fit the test port? Also, if I am leaking pressure will the following fuel pressure regulators fit in my truck? What else could be the problem?

I would like your opinions. Thanks for your time.

That pressure tester should work. It's the one I own.

I would also try pulling your Throttle body and clean it. If that doesn't do it, check for vacuum leaks.
