Well, you are both kind of halfway right. In the past I did want a Tahoe pretty badly. However, after doing a lot of thinking about it I've decided I'm not going to buy one. It would be just like the truck where when I needed it it would be nice to have but it's rare that I would need it.

As for the other post yes I do have a family member that has one and yes I'm sure it's a lot faster than my truck but that's not at all why I wanted one. I just think to me they are the best looking SUV out there, it would be new and have the features I want, and still do everything I needed from a truck.

As I said though I've been doing a lot of thinking and the Honda Accord we have has everything I want. Plenty of power, 6 speed, leather, good gas mileage, basically everything I want. The truck just sits there and when I do drive it gets crappy gas mileage and is still a lifted up truck which at this point in my life is just no longer that cool.

When I need the truck I'm glad I have it and it's great. Now it's getting to the point though where when I need it it's rare enough that I could just borrow a truck. So I'm thinking it's no point in having one sit there paying insurance and taxes on it when I hardly ever use it. I'm thinking I'd just drive one of the other cars we have like I've been doing now. Mostly the 06 Accord but we have the older Accord and Caprice too that I can rotate between. I'm also thinking I may upgrade from the 06 Accord to a new one 10' model but I'm not sure on that yet. I just know I don't need the truck very often and when I do need a truck I don't need a gas guzzling lifted up truck and to me it's no longer all that cool just to drive around in.

I'm not 100% sure I'm going to let it go unless I get what I want for it. At the 10k I know it's a deal and am considering it but wondering if I'm going to lose that much if I shouldn't just keep it for the times when I do need it. At the same time I know it's just losing value and doing nothing for me. So I'm not sure what I will do if I will keep it or get rid of it if I can't get what I want for it.

Always thought you had one of the nicest looking trucks on here, and probably will paint mine the same color blue you have down the line unless I decide to sell mine too.

What pushed you over the edge? Seemed like just a few weeks ago you were kicking around redoing the subs in it. Totally get the notion of selling it because it just sits there and depreciates, and can say if mine was lifted I probably wouldn't keep it long term because at some point, lifted trucks just seem to be a hassle.

If it's payed off I'd keep it just for the simple fact that it's payed off.
I like not having a car payment.

But if you can get 10 grand out of it that's pretty sweet too.

hometheaterman, let me just say that i have always admired your truck. And I understand why your selling it, but just so you know, I once had a different ram before this one and did the same thing your doing, sold it and was just driving the car. It didn't last 6 monthes before I bought the ram I have now. Couldn't live without it, missed it too much. But do whatever you need to do, sounds like you've thought it through and I have read your past posts about previous considerations of parting with it...it's been on your mind and I just wanna say Good Luck. It was a Beautiful truck.

It's payed off but It still has a insurance payment that's required as well as taxes every year although they aren't so bad. The insurance on this thing is more than it is on our 06 Accord V6 which is way faster and worth quite a bit more. Not sure why that is.

Basically it's just sitting there losing it's value though while we have to pay insurance and taxes and just don't need it.

I'd like to do the subs in it if I do end up keeping it but I'm just not sure. That's sort of another thing that pushed me over the edge. A few weeks ago I had someone break into it and steal some stereo stuff. They also stole some out of the 96 Accord too. I then realized that basically it's just sitting there not being used and people are starting to steal stuff from it. That's why it doesn't come with a stereo other than the OEM one and the Polk Speakers installed.
That sort of pushed me over the edge and made me think about it and realize how little I actually need this truck.

I want to keep it I really do but it just seems like I don't use it and stuff either gets stolen from it or breaks on it. I will say though since the last major repairs I haven't had much break as everything is about new. I had to put u joints in it a year or so ago but that's about it. I'm just afraid in another 50k miles or so I'm going to have to do all these repairs over again and I don't want to do that.

The lifted up part isn't horrible but it's just not as cool to me as it was. When I got the truck I was a lot younger. I've had it for a while. At the time I thought lifted trucks were cool and I really wanted one. Now that I'm a little older I've realized that unless I'm a teenager driving around in or off roading it I probably look stupid. As said it wears parts faster although that hasn't been all that much of a problem. It's just not as practical but it's really not the reason I'm selling it at all. It's just I don't use the truck.

So that's basically why it's forsale.

Makes sense. I was more into lifted trucks when I was younger too, but once I started actually using the truck for remodeling/hauling, decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Can't blame you for getting rid of it if you only use it occasionally and it's costing you a decent amount just sitting there. This morning, woke up thinking I'd never sell my truck since I use it for working on my house and otherwise. Looked at a different house today and could start to see the Ram having a limited life cycle because the place really didn't need a ton of work, and I'm not a fan of leaving something sit around and not driving it either. For whatever reason, anytime I've left a truck/van just sit, always had bugs creep up on it when I did use it for the spot driving.

Good luck selling it, and if you were around here and someone offered 10 for it, I'd tell you to take it without thinking. Mines not lifted, only has 63k on it, and I'd be lucky to get $8,500 for it.
