If there is a good machine shop close I'd take it to them and have them check it for straightness and balance.

Front shafts are not to bad...A friend of mine just got two of them off Ebay for 30 bucks...(we pull our trucks)....Also we checked his bushings on his control arms and they were bad...they caused the axle to roll up and stress the u-joint causeing it to break.....Where you in 4wd when it broke?

EDIT: Im dumb, didnt read to good..lol...forgot what i said..

also check your local phone book for a driveline shop. they can check it, fix it, balance it, etc.

or just get a new shaft and yoke from the junkyard. might be cheaper.

before anything, jack up the rear and remove the diff cover and make sure everything is still turning free. it might have broken for a reason.

that happened to my brother in law a while back. when his broke it cracked the transfer case so look it over to make sure it didn't get damaged. his driveshaft wasn't reusable either because right after it broke off an 18 wheeler ran it over.

i was on the interstate . It dropped off the tranny but stayed hooked on the rear . The driveshaft looks straight. I made sure tranny engages fine rear diff spins fine. struck out at jy yesterday found 1 that was close I think it would fit but don't want to take a chance unless it is alright. I am going to look at another JY today. The dealership can get 1 by monday . Closest 1 they can find is houston 5 hours away.
