I think that would be a BAD idea. Going mudding will put a greater strain on the tranny. I think you may get stuck out there. Going 4x4 on a regular road shouldn't hurt any, if all you want to do is keep everything moving.

no guts no glory. take a buddy, have a plan for failure and go for it.

t-case engaged in 2wd vs 4wd has absolutely no effect on tranny.
what's wrong with the trans ?

its rough shifting into second gear, and sometimes doesnt shift into third. im gonna have my tranny shop take a look at it tomorrow. i think it just needs to be reprogrammed.

so i can engage 4wd on the street?

oh and i wont be going any faster then 10mph with it on 4wd

its a bad idea to engage 4wd on dry pavement. thefront and rear binds up and something has to give, hopefully the tires slip but it just puts a lot of stress on everything. engage it all you want on a dirt road, but not on pavement.

i think you're fine to go wheeling.

When I 1st got my truck And put it into 4wd. I was like great something is wrong. Than I found out its normal. I only use my 4wd when i'm really stuck now. Its been like 4 months.

The only part of our trannies that have anything to do with "programming" is OD. All the other gears are not controlled by the computer, they're mechanically controlled.

Therefore its highly unlikely a "reprogram" will fix anything, unless by "reprogram" you meant "a complete rebuild".
