Acceleration times for top gear manual trans 5.2L
Not sure if I have any problems with my truck. It just lacks power. It its the 318 with the 3.55 gears and taller 285/75 16". But I have all new TPS, IAC, MAP, plugs, wires, muffler, and free flowing cat. In 4th and 5th gear I can mash the pedal to the floor and not hear much if any increase in sound with no felt increase in power. 5th gear won't acclerate up a decent size hill. Forget pulling a trailer. 3rd gear is required for that at 55mph on any type of hill that I want to keep speed.
Could some of you guys with a manual trans do a wide open throttle time run for me. Say 4th gear 40-60mph. Or third gear 40-60mph. So I could compare your times with my time.
Yes my signature says 5.3l - its so all the wise people can correct me on it.,

Those tires combined with those gears are the problem. My truck is a total turd with even 31s on it and it's a lot lighter than your Ram. IMO 30" tires are perfect (and the limit) with 3.55s on a 5.2 5 speed, and your tires are about a 33. Dropping tire size or switching to 3.92s or 4.10s would help a lot.

Work nightshift... But once I read it and noticed how many people just have to take (waste) the time to correct me I figured I would just leave it.
Back on topic. Can anybody time thier truck so I can compare. So I don't waste time tracking down a powerloss.
To the guy that said my tires are too big. The truck was a dog with stock size tires. Plus the tires are near brand new and had I known I was going to buy such a large boat to tow I would have kept the stock size tires.
