Default Wheelhouse Liner Removal?

I did a quick search... and didn't find any info, so I figured I would ask...

I looked in the FSM, and it appears that the wheelhouse liners (as they seem to be called) are held in by plastic rivets. I would like to remove these to have easy access to a few mods/wiring that I want to do...

Has anyone ever successfully removed & reattached these things? I'm pretty sure I can get them off... but since those are plastic rivets, I'm a little concerned with the ability to get them back on. Do these pop out like the plastic rivets that hold the door panels on?

Thanks,
Cartman

Usually, with those crappy plastic "rivets", I would suggest getting new ones. Once you pull them out, in the process you usually end up screwing up the spars and it will never hold true again.

I thought that might be the case...

I did some looking around, turns out that HF sells a rivet gun and plastic rivets for relatively cheap:

Looks like it might be time to make a trip.

Just use some standard plastic tree clips after you get the old rivets off. Makes removing it a lot easier when you need to.

They ain't the same as the door thingers. They are totally different. The wheel ones you use pliers on and can pull on the center part of them to "disengage" them then pull them out. Then when you put them back you push the center back down and it relocks them. I have done it before

i've reused the old one and had most of them hold ok. just pry them up with a screwdriver and get ahold of them with pliers and yank them out.

if necessary, you can buy replacements at autozone in packs of 6 or 8 or so.

what i did on my truck was replace them all with 1/4 bolts and nuts. i was chasing a rattle and thought the fender liner might be the culprit, so i bolted them up tight. works fine.
