Default Morons at repair shop!

Sorry so long guys.

Ok, so here's the deal. Not a dodge ram but it doesn't matter, I want my fellow 2nd gen Ram brothers help in figuring this out. My stepfather bought a 99 ford exploder from his neighbor for 500 bucks, that sat for close to a year (it ran fine when it was parked). It has spark and is getting fuel. He himself as I told him, replaced the fuel with new, so that is not an issue(and the pressure is correct). Still would not start. That's where the repair shop comes in. They did a bunch of things, including compression test (and did it wrong from what he told me). Anyway, to try and make a long story short, at one point they removed a couple spark plugs and poured oil in those two cylinders, put the plugs back in and it started right up for a few seconds, but the dumbass that was in the truck didn't try to keep it running so it stalled and would not restart. My theory is the rings are stuck, and not knowing the compression results, I suggested he have them pull all the plugs and fill the cylinders with MMO overnite to hopefully loosen them up. Well, bottom line is he knows they are morons and the POS is on a flatbed right now headed towards my house. So any input you guys may have would be awesome. I need to nurse my ankle and try and get something done on my addition this weekend

If the engine is indeed seized, your doing right with the MMO. If you believe the MMO won't cut it, you can run tranny fluid to unseize it then get it right out.

Might check cap and especially the rotor just to be sure if it doesn't run a coil pack.

The motor is not seized (with the exception of my ring theory, if that's what you mean). And it does have a coil pack, which my stepfather replaced. The oil had gas in it the shop said , so they did an oil change. Which obviously means the injectors are not clogged. Some may be stuck open I suppose, but why would putting oil in a couple cylinders let it start? This is where my theory comes into play.

I don't know if you can trust that the oil is what did it. The only thing that I could really see oil in the cylinder fixing is a ring seal/compression problem, but the engine should still run, just poorly.

Hell sitting for a year the cam, lifters, timing chain, possibly crank could all be dried out and rusty or corroded.

I would venture to say that if the engine was frozen..It wouldn.t turn over..If the rings were seized in there grove it would not keep it from lighting up unless some of the rings snapped and t lost compresion..Even then I would expect it to light up... Could be gummed up injectors..Computer probably lost its memory(specs on sensors im sure it has it set baselines but probably still needs to learn idle and so forth...I would say best bet.. mystery oil the cylinder, change oil..Change the plugs and make sure the intake isn't clogged(NOT SURE IF HAS A THROTTLE BODY).. Give the ecm a test.. just to see if it is still alive..Jump the prongs in the diagnostic port and see if the ecm responds with any old codes... at the very least it should signal you everything is reading ok

As for your thoughts on corrosion in the engine..Not likely..Maybe in the cylinders..But I have started cars parked for 2-3yrs.. all I ever did was disconnect the coil AND CRANKED IT OVER TWO OR 3 TIMES poured a few squirts of oil into each cylinder with a little gas...Hit the key and they have fired right up.. I would be more concerned with corrosion some of the sensors.. weather pack connectors have a way of rotting out..good luck

That is what I always thought. I've also started engines that have sat for a lot longer than this one has. When it get's here I'll plug in my Genisys and see where it gets me . But since it turns over but won't start, I don't think it will help.
