Mine was messed up when we bought it, four years ago. Ran out of gas a few months ago and replaced it and was happy. For me the guage was bouncing all over the place. I replaced the pump, since the sending unit and pump are all in one, it was pricy. Just had to drop the tank, swap the pump, and it was done.

have you re-filled the tank yet? try that, it may bring it back. I had a similar problem a couple of times, (mine being at empty) and a few key cycles and a fillup fixed it (or I should say, it hasnt had a problem since then...)

i was hoping that a fill up might bring it back but it stays in the same position even with the key off.. is there ome type off sending unit outside the tank i should check first
and im wondering if the rumor i was told before is true that aditives can cause problems like these. i still doubt it

I doubt that additives would do this, however mositure in the tank would. It could get into the sending unit and cause rusting of the contacts in the sending unit.
