Default Suspension (tracking bar)

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with 65k[sm=feedback.gif]. I'm having problems with having to follow the truck all over the road. I talked with dodge and they told me that the tracking bar was bad and that they normally only last about 35k (way to go Dodge). Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? Could it be my steering box also? It is $300 to replace the bar. Are there any after market bars that are better? Any help would be very much appreciated.

here's a few options...

dt tracbar

2003 retrofit kit

and yet one more...

thurenfab tracbar

change your control arm bushings to the poly's and you'll have a really stable front end (with a new tracbar).

i did this on my truck and love it.

I used a Luke Link on mine and it fixed the issue for only $65. My track bar still had the part number stickers on it, but the ball joint that connects to the frame was shot.

No lift on the Dodge, stock Ram 1500 suspension.

Check the steering box and pitman arm. Shop told me my trac bar was bad I got it checked out at a second place and they said the trac bar does have problems on some Rams but mine was fine. It was the steering box that was worn out. Replaced it and now it drives like a new one. Just another thing to think about. Ball Joints? I've heard that when they go bad it can cause the steering to wonder.....Good luck.

ball joints should be a give away though. if the ball joints are bad the truck should hop and make rattling, also another rattling/hoppin is a hub. I have a negative offset on my wheel (wheels that stick out extremely past the fender) such an off set pushes against the hub in a very extreme way which messed the bearing up. My case the right upper and lower ball joint is toast and the left hub needs to be replaced to fix wandering and shaking. Just an example get it looked at by a tire shop they have problems like this stuff all the time, take it to les shuab they are really good. Good luck.

mine was getting real loose too. really bad when turning. i replaced the left front lower control arm and the pitman arm. much much better. nice and smooth through the turn but still loose on rough roads. bushings and a look at the trackbar next.
