for those that have dealt with AC issues

our trucks have a oriface tube system. That consist of a compressor, condensor, oriface tube, evaporator, accumilator.(in that order also). Alot of the time the oriface tube gets plugged and the suction line does not get cold. (EVACAUTE THE SYSTEM OF FREON PROPERLY)then the accumilator should be replaced because it it is over 10 years old, and note the amount of oil trapped in the accumalator once you take it off. All the o rings should be replaced. and also make sure the compressor is ingauging properly. you should then get the vehicle vaccumed down for at least 15 min. and also do leak test. then you should add which ever pag oil is required. a rule of thumb is 1 ounce per pound of freon.(not including the amount lost in accumilator). Then Add the suggested amount of r134(should say under hood in # units). Then you should add dye and run vehicle on recerculate medium fan speed with a thermometer in the middle dash vent. The temp should get down to 35-45 F. Then you should check for leaks with black lights and uv glasses. IN OTHER WORDS LEAVE IT TO THE PROFESSIONALS IT WOULD BE A LOT QUICKER AND SIMPLER ON YOUR PART.

ok, well.
i put a wire "jumper" in the plug that goes onto the top of the accumulator. this forced the compressor to turn on. truck immediately showed empty, and after 2 cans of refridg/sealer it shows full and the a/c is cold as hell. jumper removed, plug put back in place on accumulator. compressor now comes on by itself when the a/c is on

Well, If you would have done a search on here to begin with noob, you would have seen that I and other members on here have suggested that in other threads. And besides, there is a reason it's empty. So good luck, bud! Have fun replacing the evap core eventually or LEAVE IT TO A PROFFESIONAL!
