what i call a strobe, ive also heard called a rotating beacon light, my dad had one on his old plow truck, the base was magnet loaded, and it plugged into the cig lighter, not the best design, but it worked

thats what it looked like
the main reason i want the strobe is the slow speed wagons limit you to, a farmer down the road has some one his tractors (factory installed...bastards)

I am just finishing up on my 2001 Ram 2500 that I bought last month. I volunteer with a group in San Diego that rescues domestic animals (dogs, horses, llamas, and all kinds of weird crap) during fires, floods, or accidents. We are part of the County's disaster plan and allowed ambers and whites only. I went to e-bay and picked up a 4-bulb strobe kit for $90, LED modules (4 bulbs, 1-watt per bulb) for $50/pair - got four pair, and a traffic direction bar with controller for $150. I also went to a site called Extreme Tactical Dynamics and got one of their interior light bars that goes above the mirror on the windshield. It has six 3 watt LEDs in amber that are very bright plus one clear LED as a take-down. Cost was $150. I haven't finished all of the installation yet, as I am also building a center console to hold the radios and switches - 2 ham radios, 1 commercial band radio, CB, and scanner. When I finish with the lights, I will have 2 yellow and 2 white LED modules on the grill, a yellow/white combo module on each mirror, two yellow/white combos on the rear (not sure where those will fit yet), strobes on each corner, traffic bar at the top of the rear bench seat, and the light bar hidden behind the tint on the top of the windshield. All will be controlled by separate switches with the ability to change the flash patterns on all of them. The LED modules are subtle, not like the big light bar I had on my old Land Rover. The only real give-away on the truck is the antenna farm on the roof!
