Very Odd, truck hesitates/stumbles
Hey all, it's been a while since I've started a thread, but none-the-less, here's my problem. Any help is appreciated. So for the past 6-9 months, I've had an issue with my truck were when I'm driving it anywhere from 30 mph and up, every once and a while I'll have my foot on the gas and even though I don't let up on the gas, it FEELS like it does for just a quick second then catch's itself and it's back to normal. Well today, when I was at a red light, it happened again. When I took my foot off the brake and gently put it on the gas, it took off as normal then it kind of hesitated as if I let go of the gas for a second then went again. I just recently got a CEL on, but it was an emission code (0441) and I don't think it has anything to do with it. Could it be my TPS? I need to fix it ASAP but don't know where to start. I need to move on the 26th of this month and it's a 400 mile trip. I really don't feel like getting stuck in Fresno and being raped by some A$$ CLOWN mechanic. Thanks again everyone!
Could be TPS. If it was actually misfiring for any reason except a computer issue, you would be getting a misfire code.
I'd check the TPS (do you have a Haynes manual?) with a multimeter.
EDIT: Could also be the IAC or fuel filter/pump as well, if the TPS checks out good. Are your plug wires routed per the TSB on them?

The wires are routed according to the TSB. I think I'll have to check it this weekend with my friends multimeter since mine is broken. thanks for the quick reply. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Sounds like the TPS or fuel pump, to me. You might try going out and resetting the the pcm. Just remove the battery cable, and then go in and try to start the motor. This will discharge and built up spark. This would just be a way to see if your IAC didn't get jacked up. If everything goes better after the reset, then your idle just needed reset, and you should be good to go.
If it's the fuel pump, you could try dumping a whole can of Seafoam in the tank, and that might buy you some time by clearing up a little bit of the restriction.
BTW, WTH have you been?

I got sent back by Border Patrol. JK. I've just been filling out apps and getting myself ready to apply for SFPD, among other jobs. So I've been reading how to check the TPS in my Haynes manual but it doesn't say weather to check it with the engine off or on. Can anyone give me a heads up? Also, I use Redline complete fuel system cleaner about twice a year, I've been waiting for a real foggy day to do the sea foam. I have ALOT of tree huggers around me that will call the cops in a heartbeat. Thanks again fellas!!!
The Seafoam in the gas won't smoke. It only smokes when it gets fogged into the motor via the intake.
There's a lot of problems that can cause your symptoms. Your symptoms kind of sound similar to mine when my exhaust was clogged. That in turn made my other sensors run the truck like you're stating. I don't think it would be your o2 sensor would it? Runs fine when its idling but not when your moving right? If your TPS is good, I'd look into that.

So I was wondering if anyone could clarify the Haynes Manuel regarding how to check it. It doesn't specify if the TPS should be check with the ignition on, truck turned on or off.
key on engine off, otherwise it will have 0 volts. be careful with the probes too, jam them too hard and the wires will want to back out of the harness and not hold right ever again.
