Default weird question

i changed my oil today, truck gets 5qts of mobil 1 sythetic and 1 can engine restore as always.

well changed it, drained all oil into oil pan and i dumped the oil out of filter also.

put new oil in, and was dumping the bad oil back into the 5qt jug, and the dirty oil only filled that up half way, so did i really have 2 1/2 qts in my truck, i always check my oil when i fill up and its always fine. but now its running alot better now .it seriously feels like i have more power , i dunno

Lame. It's a good thing you use that mobil 1. Obviously whatever the damage is done but you could bandsaw your filter in half to see what is in it. Did you get any sparklies or sludge in the old oil?

Did you run the engine before you changed the oil? If you didn't some of the old oil probably just stayed behind (or in the filter) since it was cold and thick. They always say to warm up the engine a bit before draining. One thing I don't get. You added 5qts + 1 can of engine restore. Wont that put you close to 6 quarts? That's not a good thing either.

I'd start checking the oil more often.
