Default Help with gauges

I want to add a couple of gauges to my truck. I'm going to buy a 2-gauge pillar pod and gauges from this company:
http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/

What I need help with is deciding which style and which functions. I don't want them to be too distracting, so I think the Black 7 color series is my best option to better match the existing gauges. I do like the look of the White 7 color series, though.

In addition to face color I'm not sure which 2 gauges to get. I definitely want the tranny temp unit, but am torn between the oil temp, volts or fuel pressure gauge. How much value is there in knowing the running fuel pressure and does it change much during operation? Oil temp is nice, but is it any more helpful than the existing water temp gauge? The volt gauge would be nice to get a more accurate reading than the stock voltmeter. I don't want to go to a 3 gauge pod because I think that will be too busy. Maybe I'll just go with a single pod for the tranny temp.

What say you, fellow modificators?

I personally would run a 3 gauge pod or buy a column pod for a 3rd gauge. I think the 2 most important besides tranny temp is oil pressure and water temp (both mechanical is my preference) because the stock gauges really don't tell you the whole story.

I like the Black series you mentioned. If it was my truck, probably go with the trans temp (no brainer) and a new voltage gauge. When I was doing voltage testing on my truck I got the battery load down to 10 volts and the factory gauge barely moved.

Not sure on the fuel pressure, just think it's something that wouldn't be very useful for a daily driver. Would guess the oil temp wouldn't be favored over water temp or it would be a more standardized gauge from the factory?

The factory gauges only give you a range, (they aren't really precise) so it really depends what you think is more important in your daily use. The Tranny is an obvious must. If you think you will be doing a lot of dessert driving with the potential for heating problems, go with water temp or oil temp on the second. Voltage I really don't see being much help. I had a car many years ago with an after market volt gauge installed and it didn't help much either. That's one of those things that doesn't fluctuate much. If it does, you have a problem and you will fix it quickly (so the stock gauge is probably OK for volts). A differential gauge maybe a good idea since you do have a 4x4, and you do haul stuff.

On the face color I would make it match your dash. If you have black background, go with black. If white background, then follow that. It will make it match better for the day you decide to sell the truck.

Let me go pull something up, but I think there are a few gauges out there that are a one shot, and you can flip through the readouts. Just a sec...

Found it. They are a little pricey though....

This is what I use, it's not much to look at but it does just about anything you want. I use the MPG and avg MPG a lot, it makes me change my driving habbits to get better gas MPG's. It checks and erases codes. Read up on it you might be surprised.

Well, chit. Scratch that idea then, but you might call them anyways, since it might have some support for the newer trucks. That particular model plugs into the OBD2 port, so it might have some support for 1998 and up....
