Is that what that damn rattling sound is when my engine is cold? It sounds like the exhaust but the pipe is intact and the mounts are solid.

Mine has it to. Passenger side rear seat hinge/mount squeaks when the seat is up. If I put the seat down, it doesn't do it.

The gas tank is mostly under the bed on my truck. I have a squeak coming from under the dash by the gauges. Drives me nuts and finding it is impossible because it only does it when the truck is moving and I can't drive and look at the same time. I put in a good stereo system and just crank it so I don't have to hear it, but I sure would like to get rid of it.

Don't be an ***.

To the OP: The gas tank is on the driver's side, so I wouldn't think that that's your issue. Like post two said, (work through that jack *** reply) you might try spraying joints and bolts down with some kind of oil and see if you can find it.

He made it sound like he knew where the noise coming from, he didn't say from above , the sides ,below, behind, he said "from the rear seat".

it may be the pivot point on the seat, or the rubber pad under it rubbing the metal. it could also be the mounting tabs on the back of the seat that go into the back wall on the cab.

if it is just from behind you and you think it may be from outside the cab then i'd say drop the spare tire and take it for a spin, then take the tailgate off and take it for a spin. both of those can squeak. the spare tire fix would be to tighten it up and the tailgate would be just to grease the pivot points.

It could be coming from the tailgate. All the 2nd gen rams I've ever driven (including mine) have worn out tailgate hinges which causes the tailgate to move around a little. Replacing the little rubber pads around the tailgate always took care of this problem. Go for a drive with the tailgate down and if the squeak goes away, there's your problem

Yeah, if his tailgate is in the rear seat! LOL JK

I don't have a rear seat obviously, but I do have a squeak that drove me nuts for months. One day I took off and forgot to close the tool box mounted in the bed. I didn't feel like stopping to close it and voila, the squeak was gone. It is the hinge for the lid, I never lubed it up , so it still does it closed. But, doesn't bother me anymore because now I know what's causing it. lol
