Default Accumulator under dash Q's

Ok, I am in the process of sourcing parts to make my non a/c ram an a/c ram.

All I want to know is where the accumulator is on a ram with a/c, is there a spot for it to kinda slip in there on a non-a/c ram? or does the whole plastic "box" need to be swapped aswell?

If I do need the box, will a 98+ one fit in a 97- dash?

I kinda wanna know what I have to get before teardown.
Tell me if I sound rediculous.

Thank you.

The accumulator goes out in the engine bay near where the ac lines go through the firewall. The evaporator core is in the box. Don't know for sure, but the box is probably the same. But I would imagine the vacuum actuators and other stuff connected to the box itself for the ac are different or non existent . You probably should get the whole box ,vac lines and control switch for dash from a jy.

If you have a 94-97, I would suggest sticking with that time frame. The 98+ are notorious for having all sorts of issues with their dashes including vacuum line problems and so forth. You already have a big job, stay within your years to avoid major complications. Also the dash switch is different for 98+ so it probably wouldn't hook up for you properly if you went beyond 97.

And some of the real later models may have changed from vac or cable to electric , vice versa , or the other way around LOL and so fourth , IIRC

FYI, I got the Evaporator and tore the truck apart to install it, Luckily the accumulator slides right in to the heater box in a truck that didn't come with a/c with no cutting, or drilling, it was as simple as replacing it.

As for the rest of the swap, wiring is already there like most cars out there and even the relay is there. Turns out the idler pulley is slightly off making it impossible to make a non-a/c belt fit with the compressor not inline. should be able to charge it up tommorrow and see if it all works, I'm kinda nervous.
