Default 2.25 muffler on 2.5 exhaust pipe

I have a 95 Ram 1500 5.9 and my muffler is gone. What could happend if I put a 2.25 muffler on my 2.5 exhaust line temporary. I'm gonna buy a new one in two weeks. Could it damage the engine or something ???
The 2.25 muffler I have is a single inlet dual outlet.

Thanks

It will be fine, you"ll have a little more back pressure and might even gain some bottom end back.

you could just put a 2.5" straight pipe there for good, unless you like a quiet truck. the smaller diameter will still let the exhaust through and wouldn't even come close to restricting it enough to do any damage. most parts stores have adapters from 2.5 to 2.25 for a dollar or two each so if you do slap it on then the install shouldn't cost you more than 10$.

Thanks for the replies.
If it can't damage anything and make a good sound, I may be put this one permanently, the muffler come from a V8 camaro so if it can handle a 350, it can handle a 360

let us know if it does help torque at all because i'm thinking about replacing the pipe between my cat and the y pipe (about 3 feet) with a 2.25 pipe to see if it will help with backpressure/scavenging. i have a 2.5" pipe from the cat to a y-pipe and dual 2.5" pipes all the way to the back.

the muffler goes right behind the passenger door normally, why would you need to take your spare out? where was your original muffler? i'm confused.

He's talking about a dual outlet muffler off an F-Body which mounts up under the car like this
........._____________
...IN =|....................|
OUT =|_____________|= OUT

gotcha, thats just like the one that i cut off my camaro. you could just do what i did. i had the muffler shop make a y pipe to match my flowmaster so the tailpipes would still line up then i got a straight piece of 2.5" pipe and welded it to the y pipe and clamped it on.
