I used all the original bolts , 18 months/25k of hard wheelin/driving in my jeep never broke it yet . I won't do it any different when I do the Ram either , go ahead , call me cheap
ya, but i dont wanna have to do this $%^& again, so im just gonna do it right the first time, not to mention i really shouldnt have to do it, but because of the engineering genious's that dodge has working for them, i have to replace the plenum with only 52,000 on the clock.
Exactly. Using old bolts is nothing but hack. As an engineer, I have seen this issue many times where the fastener fails. They either snap someplace and you don't know it as it's still in the intake. "Hey, it torqued up- it must be fine" Then, when the intake leaks, they wonder what the issue is and why it runs like crap. Then, only at time of disassembly does one find that one or more fasteners broke. There goes your torque and here comes a leak. I would not use any old TTY bolts ever.
My big deal with the Hughes Plate/APS was that they wanted $100 for a piece of flat 1/4in aluminum!!!! Come on now.....really? Then to make things worse, the metal shop here in town wanted $170 to make it!!! I understand Im in Alaska, but seriously? I said screw it, went down to the hangar. Got me a piece of flat aluminum and gonna cut the dang thing out myself. Pretty sure that I can do the same dang thing with a die grinder and a few cutting wheels. All I gotta pay is a couple hrs of my time.

Sorry guys , it was 1.5 yrs ago , and I do have pneumonia , my brain isn't quite it's sharpest . I checked my receipts today on the jeep and I did indeed buy the new set of bolts at the dealer . I could have sworn differently .
