Welp, purchased some new rubber today
They are not DOT approved and you are taking a risk by driving them on the road. Chances are no one will ever know or care unless you make someone mad and they rat you out. Most police officers wouldn't notice anyway. Highway patrol probably would. Your biggest risk would be if you were in an accident. An ambulance chaser lawyer would have a huge woody for a case like that.
Haha, yep, only 100+ MPH through the harshest conditions a tire could go through!
And quite ironically, the actual tread compound feels quite stiff compared to my Kumhos I have bought.
Like stated just above, I think they just are not DOT aproved, so they print that on there.
Nice purchase. I see tires like that for sale around here all the time as left overs from the XRRA races we have out here. Some are new, others were used just for that day of the race. Since many of the teams are sponsored, they get new tires every time out, so they don't seem to mind selling their used/old ones to make a few extra bucks for the team. I've thought about buying some, but most are stamped off-road use only or are custom cut for the track conditions. Since I drive on the road more then I off-road these days, i've shyed away from them.
Yeah, they probably will not be the best on road tire, but for the price I couldn't pass them up. I could sell them a year from now for more than what I got into them ($100). It was either get these, or blow a large wad ($1300+) on a new set... I went this route.
OK, tires are under the truck. As anticipated, they are not that great for street tires... nowhere near my half worn MTR's. They are quite inconsistent as far as balancing goes... sometimes they ride very nice, other times they shake like a bogger. It might have something to do with rocks getting stuck between the lugs and throwing it off balance until they let loose, but I'm not sure. Noise wise, them just have a nice quiet hum.
I have not even got them in the dirt yet unfortunately, so I will update when that time comes. I suspect they will do superb in just about all conditions. My hopes are they are excellent in snow, my favorite wheeling, which I'm sure they will be.
The major sucky part is they measure 34.5" mounted, and that really blows with 3.92 gears. I was hoping for 33" mounted, but that was a no go.
Anyway, heres some pics...

Nice and tucked in the fenders!

Just like everyone else with 12.5" wide tires on stock wheels, they rub the control arms at full lock. I also am not too sure about the black sidewall... I am a white letter kinda guy. I might paint them white, not sure yet.
Hopefully I will post up some wheeling pics and performance updates soon fellas!

I too love a white walled tire, but once you rub them on something, it's a pain.
they look great oleyelr one question tho you said they ride weird some times.
Are they byias ply nylon belted or radial steel belted?
i remember when my dad had his old k5 blazer and had bias ply nylon belts they road weird untill they got hot.
the reason was they would flat spot while sitting over night while cooling off
