Default Muffler Question

Anyone have a link on proper sizing for after market mufflers.

I need to know the pipe size on my stock 2000 4x4 5.2l

I guess I just crawl under there with a tape measure and see what the pipe size is?

Any tricks I should know about this topic

Thx

to answer your question, the head pipes running from the manifolds to the cat are 2" and from the cat to the muffler is 2.5" or 2.75" and from the muffler back is 3". If your thinking about an exhaust system i would recomend a flowmaster super forty muffler with dual outlets. It will sound great under full throttle but at highway speeds and light acceleration it wont be very loud inside the cab. if your looking for a little more noise go with the 10 series flowmasters or otherwise known as the delta force race muffler single chamber. I myself am running dual side pipes with no cat with two 10 series flowmasters. it sounds very healthy but it's way too loud for some.

I have a 99 1500 and did the same. Stock is ok but my older boy who rides dirt bikes and quads says "air in, air out, is the key to any engine." The super flo Cat into flomaster muffler and 3.5in duels straight out the backwith 4in. s.steel tips is how I went. The difference is night a day, well worth the $. (675 installed) You can control noise by what muffler you choose. My boys just love the sound it makes, I love the 2 extra mpg and new power for towing the toys. I am looking for some input on cold air intake and a chip. Does any one have any suggestions.
