Default removeable tire mount?

I found this tire mount on craigslist and it is exactly what I want plus it came off of a dodge and I can get the off road wheel and 35in tire with is which is exactly what I need. The only problem is the fact that it is permanent in the bed of the truck and i need that space for hauling. I am gonna try and fab something up to make it removable if any one has any ideas please let me know I was thinking about making and H shape with square tubing and mounting it to the two horizontal peices teh the one or more vertical peices holding the horizontal ones together and slidint the horisontal peices into the groves in the bed to keep it from moving. I may also use wood and that would make things easier but wood would also increase the chance of someone stealing it. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Here are the pictures

Would it be too easy and not enough money and effort to just throw it in the bed and put a chain around it with a plastic sheath through one of the tie down brackets and a padlock?
