Lockouts
Kits like the Posi-lock are completely different from what you originally asked. All that kit does is replace the failure-prone vacuum-assisted 4X2-into-4X4 shifting system with a mechanical means that is less likely to not engage/disengage you transfer case from the front axle. You still will have the problem of your axle shafts being always connected to the wheels and therefore always turning. The EMS and Dynatrac systems actually convert the axle to part time allowing you to disengage the wheels from the drive axles thereby reducing drivetrain drag and added wear and tear on axle components. They also eliminate the expensive sealed hub bearing units in favor of cheaper and more easily serviced Timken bearings. Seems pretty obvious, but I wanted to be sure you understood that since your original question was regarding locking wheel hubs.
well that was the plan when I thought that you could buy just a center hub like many people told me for the price of the kits I think i'd spend a little extra and get new axles.

So today I decided to tackle this problem, really wish I wouldn't have my truck is in pieces
after taking the actuator out and finding that it works great I traced back to find a switch on the transfer case. After getting it out I found that the little spring loaded ball didn't move I've cleaned with everything on the shelf and it's better but does not pop back by itself. So if anyone knows a good way to clean one of these please let me know. Napa said it is a dealer only item can anyone verify this and about how much are these to replace
the vac switch on the t-case is replaceable, and a farily common part. i don't find it listed at autozone or rockauto, but your local auto parts should be able to get it.
here it is about halfway down the page.

wow 30 dollars for something I don't want that sucks hopefully my other one will clean up. It is soaking in a mixture of parts cleaner and rooftop coil cleaner, my only worry is that when I pull it out in the morning the plastic will be melted.
