Is your gas gauge working? My wifes did the same thing when her sending unit started to go bad.

Yes it works...we are talking about the overhead compass/temp display

I understand that. As the fuel sending unit started to die one of the things that quite working was the overhead display. Would not calculate MPG or DTE. Then the fuel gauge stoppped working and her display went dead. Replaced the sending unit and all worked perfectly. Just something to look at.

Ah I see, I didn't even know it calculated the MPG.

You sure it is not 99 and later? I can't recall my 98 showing it anywhere (and I do have the compass/thermometer cluster).
