Default Pitman Arm boot keeps breaking??? HELP!!

This is the second pitman arm boot, that has busted within a 6 month period of time.. Both of them has been Napa's Master Ride brand. The Idler arm is the same brand and no issues.. Any ideas from anyone?? Lack of or over greaseing it is not the problem that much I do know..

I can't think of what boot you are talking about. The pitman arm is just a piece of metal with two holes in it. I'm guessing the ball joint that attaches to the pitman arm is what you're talking about. If that seal keeps tearing then it's rubbing or not installed properly.

Did you damage it during installation? Did you blow it apart when putting grease in it? Do you have a lift so it is at a severe angle? Do you have a wobble or play in the front end? Is the nut tight or not too tight?

Yes it is the ball joint Im referring to. It was torqed to specs and not over greased. Its stock height no wobble in front end at all, everything is tight...

When you say busted you mean it is popping off along the edge or it is splitting down the side? Do you have a picture?

One tore along the side the other one was at the edge.

get a polyeurothane boot and you shouldn't have that problem again. i just replaced my tie rod boots with poly because they were split in the middle from the rubber being old.

Is there not a 1 year warranty from NAPA on there parts?

And btw, put ALL the info about your truck in your sig if you want accurate info!!!!!!!!!! A 4wd does not have an idler arm, so I assume it's 2wd. And in that case, the pitman arm is not just a piece of steel. It has a ball joint. In either case, it seems like the part you bought is junk. Return it and ask them WTF!

Zman,
What is the difference between Moog standard line and the problem solver line?
