i vote the shocks. i have a 2000 ram with only 68k miles and the shocks on mine are already not so good. and it never hauls more than a 4 wheeler. it is a 1500 but still. they squeek and arent as responsive as they should.

Shocks will not do crap! The leafs are making the rear end sag. Shocks are more of a comfert thing. Leafs are know to sag over time.

The guys who say shocks don't do anything are correct, as far as lift/drop goes anyway. Shocks do not effect ride height much at all, if any. Springs are what does it.

Don't believe us? Go ahead, throw some new shocks on there, and be amazed how it looks the same.

Actually, as Miami said, load levelers will raise it up a wee bit, and help a ton with towing. My gabriel load levelers made my truck sit substantially higher then my bilsteins.

Here is a pic of my truck with the load levelers.

Pic with HD Bilsteins

As you see it does add an inch or two, and will only squat about 1/2 an inch with a 3,000 pound trailer.

Leafs you need a cutting trouch to open them dam clips on the leafs. Which is why my leafs are sitting around I need to find one. You could also look at a junk yard. Take some measure to see if they our sagging or not.

I agree that blocks aren't the greatest choice, and if it is a 4x4 then blocks are not an option since dodge installs 5" blocks from the factory on 2500s. Blocks are bad enough, and you never want to stack blocks on blocks.

i bet you can't convince the guys that race at my local hill in hole mud track that you shouldn't stack them. those guys get up to 15 feet of air each time they race and don't have any problems with stacking a 3" or 4" block on top of a 5" or 6" block.

i'm not endorsing stacking blocks but i've seen a lot of trucks that have them stacked and the blocks stay put even when their trucks gets air at least 4 or 5 times a month.

if i was going to do a lift (or replace worn out springs) i would get longer leaf springs with more of a curve and do away with the blocks all together.

No doubt, and everything is great until you break a block. I wouldn't be terrified of doing that for trail use only, but I wouldn't want to run it on the street.
