Default shaker hood or cowl

ok im going to be buying a hood i was wanting either the viper cowl hood or the shaker hood.

but my questions is whats all involved in the shaker hood like

1) can you use it in the rain/snow ext and it not go into the engine compartment ??

2) would i need to change to a round air cleaner or what is used to clear ?? and does the black plastic piece go over it ??

3 ) would i still pass inspection / emmisions

here the links too look

shaker hood - http://www.andysautosport.com/dodge/...d00025881.html

viper cowl - http://www.andysautosport.com/dodge/...d00025882.html

please all imputs on what you guys think or other idea on other hood , or cheapest place to buy ext thanks

There are no issues with moisture being pulled into the intake. These have been used for decades. The one I have has two tiers which allow for drainage. It also uses a supplied low profile 14 in air cleaner encased in the scoop. Does not effect emmisions.

Personally i like the shaker better but i always though it would be fun to try and make a functional ram air hood

id say shaker, as the black piece is mounted to the engine, it will move when you punch the throttle, hence the name 'shaker'

Yup yup. Shaker all the way. The only issue I foresee is in the winter time, when there is snow you might have to take the extra time to wipe it away from the openings.
