Default 95 Ram wont fire

I traveled last night 4 hours to my job site, the truck ran great over the road, got to the job site sleep in the bosses rv, got up this morning and my pickup wouldnt fire, i havent a clue why it wouldnt turn over, it's a 95 Ram 4x4, 1/2 ton with a 5.9 liter, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It just keeps turning over but wont fire this is the first time it has ever done this to me. I have owned the truck for 3 years now.

You are going to have to find out if it's getting spark and/or fuel.

i put fuel in the carb and it fired but died quickly, i think its the fuel pump, im glad it didnt die on the highway, but now i have to get it to a shop in town here, i just hope that the fuel pump isnt the problem and it can be fixed cheaply

Check the fuses and relays, you can swap the horn relay with the fuel relay and try it.

funny thing i got underneath the truck and tapped on the fuel tank a little and the dang thing fired right up, i wonder if i flooded it, or if was vapor locked, or is my fuel pump going out, i have never had any problems like this before and it ran great after it started and took it out for a 10 mile drive. Thanks for your help it's good to know people are out there willing to give advice. o also i started it several more time after and no problems.

That is a tell tale sign the pump is going bad, you better replace asap or you'll be stranded somewhere and tapping it won't help.

i've heard that its easier to raise the bed then it is to drop the tank to replace the pump. if it were me i would run that thing till it was about empty then just drop the tank.

+1, I think raising the bed is ridiculous, not to mention dangerous as hell.

i had a similar problem... when you go to crank it, give it some gas. had to hold the throttle so it didn't stall but after it warmed up it idled fine, haven't have a problem since.

I would hate to be stalled out on the road somewhere, especially since i work 230 miles from home, the shop in town gave a 550 dollar estimate, its crazy expensive, but i dont have much of a choice.(i think) i dont really know what to do, it starts and runs fine 8 out of 10 times and it has never given me any indication i would happen again i actually let it sit for 3 days, and when i went out 20 minutes ago it cranked right over 5 out of 5 times, i'm contemplating whether or not to just drive home and work on it there myself, i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. LOL
