I went out and checked. There is definitely a wobble. It seems to be concentrated at the middle of the shaft, between the steering box and the firewall; where there is a little boot. I didn't take the boot off, but I'm guessing there is a joint there. How do I fix this?

Do I take the boot off and replace the parts in the joint, or is the problem stemming from else where in the steering shaft?

Well thats the slip joint for the intermediate shaft, sounds bad obviously and you'll need a new one. But I'm talking about grabbing the steering column shaft right where it comes out of the firewall, where it connects to the intermediate shaft. To see if the column itself is loose at that point.

I know it's fixable. I just have yet to get the part to fix it. So, at this point, I don't know anymore than you do. Sorry
