Default Output Speed Sensor Help

Hey I've been a reader for a while and figured I would join up. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 QC SB on 35's and a 95 1500 both 5.9s. I usually check everyday and read most of the stuff that goes on but now I have a problem and would like to know if anyone can help.

On the 2000 the transmission will not shift out of first gear. This happened about a month ago when I started it up it wouldn't shift. I pulled over and shut if off about 5 times hoping it would reset but nothing. So then I disconnected the battery and hooked it back up and shifted fine. Now a couple nights ago I drove about 150 miles all over and shut it off unload stuff start it back up and wouldn't shift. Disconnect the battery and it shifted. Today wouldn't shift again. Blah blah checked for codes got P0720 which is Output Speed Sensor. I'm guessing its the one on the transmission. Do you think this would be the problem or not.

Usually when I read about other problems like this MonteC would always say Governor Pressure Solenoid or something like that. Just wondering what you guys thought and sorry for the long post.

The sensor on the trans can cause that. I have seen on here where it has fixed some peoples issue like yours. It's cheap and easy, might as well give it a shot.

i don't know jack siht about transmissions, but i've been lead to believe that the first couple of shifts are hydraulically operated and the OD and TC lock are electronically operated. i don't know if that's true or not, or if it applies to you. just thinking out loud.

Hey guys I changed the transmission speed sensor and it fixed it. Before when I would start the truck it would always have to go above 2000 rpms to shift out of first gear on the first shift, then after it was fine. Now it shifts normal all the time. So I guess that was the problem for that as well.

Anyways I plan on setting up a gallery soon to get some photos set up. In the process of putting Westin Black Step Bars on.
