2001 1500 club cab advice
this is my first dodge and my first truck.
paid $1500 for the truck. originally came out of arizona so there is no rust at all on it. just purchased a 2001 dodge ram 1500 club cab model with 160,000. with a blown engine. The truck has a 5.2l 318 magnum engine in it and the transmission ws replaced by the po at around 110,000. I picked up a engine with around 90,000 from salvage yard i am going to put in it. would really love to have a dual exhaust and nige air intake and other things. thought i would ask here what things should i be looking out for while changing this and possibly upgrades to make while i have the engine out and can get to work around it? eventually i would like to lift it also. also does anybody know where i could get a replacement piece of seat fabric because there is a hole in the drivers side seat. thanks for any advice
get the hughes plenum plate and 1.7 harland sharp roller rockers with felpro plenum and valve cover gaskets. it would also be a good time to change the rear main seal and the oil pump. oh, and do the kegger and throttle body mods. and the timing chain. also consider porting and polishing the heads.
i would love to have the engine out to be able to do all those things, it would make it so much easier.

thanks for the advice so far i def want to do the kegger mod and would like to get new manifold pipes because mine are rusty like all others.on a good note got a brand new water pump that was instailled on the bad engine. the guy blew the pump and ran it till motor blew. still runs but lifters knock real bad and high oil pressure.also from what i have read i do want to do the plenum mod too. have thought that chrome valve covers would lok good or at least enamel over the stock. i want my engine to look nice when you open the hood. any advice on air intakes?
14x3 k&n. if your going for the dressed up look then you can get the mopar performance air hat and the valve cover baffles to match like our moderator Silver Dodge has on his truck.

seat cover is your best option for the seat cost wise, and swap your driver side cushion with the passenger side, it will have a much better feel, i sat in my passenger side the other day while cleaning the cab out and dagum, it feels soo much better than the broken down driverside
had not thought of swapping before i might try that. theres possibly a pair of seats i can get for 30 in maryland but i have to see what condition they are in first. cold air intake is what i meant
