Keyless Entry/Security Issues
I'm having problems with my factory security system/keyless entry.. Today I went to get a new key fob programmed at the stealership. The guy there was real nice and after waiting a while, he came over and told me that their tool wasn't communicating with my truck. This meant that my key fob couldn't be programmed. I had other stuff to do, and the guy was going to charge if he did any further diagnostic, so I went ahead and left.
As I was leaving though, I noticed my security light wasn't flashing/lighting up at all, but I'm not sure when this started, because it had been flashing and whatnot not too many days ago. I believe it is all tied in with the keyless entry system, so where should I start checking for problems? I already checked my security fuse under the hood, and it wasn't blown. Next step?

Hmm I'll check that out. I knew it had a spring in it, but it never clicked that it may be a button LOL.
Thanks for the reply, but I still have an underlying issue with the keyless entry remote not being programmable. It came stock with the keyless entry, and I bought a Mopar replacement.

Read through your owners manual and see what it says. Maybe try removing battery and clearing the system to see if it goes away. It could be waiting for a program that was never completed. Mine doesn't have that so I can't say from experience, but my Mustang does have it. To add a key to my Mustang I don't need any special machine. You have to have both your stock keys then insert the new one, do a few key turns, put your right foot out, then you left hand in, and by the time you get to hokey pokey you're all done.
I wonder if he didn't muck it up on purpose to try and get some business out of you. I know of several dealerships in my area that would probably try to do that if I let them, and I have heard of them doing it before to others.
Its easy to program the key FOBs for our trucks on your own, BTW. Google is your friend.

Oh, my apologies, didn't realize you didn't start out with one already.
In that case, with no FOBs programmed, yes, you'd need to take it to a stealership. But like I said, I bet he mucked it up on purpose.

Yea I wouldn't doubt it. The guy came off nice, but they were half the price of the stealership my dad usually goes to. That makes me think somethings up.
