Default Question about who makes best serp belt.

Did a search but coulden't find info. It's always been a little noisey but I'm changing out the FC and found the tensioner to be bad. I pulled it to check range of motion and it stayed where I pulled it too. I assume that it should have returned back to where it started. I thought there were suggestions on the best belt but coulde'nt find it.

Goodyear Gatorback from Autozone, or Gates from Oreillys. I prefer the Gatorback.

My gatorback I'm not pleased with. It whines like a turbo spooling up. I'd get something else.

My vote is for the GatorBack. I installed one in my truck and it is much quieter. Made a world of difference. The only drawback is that it's on the expensive side...like twice as much as the regular belt, but far worth it.

After taking my old one out, I bought the less expensive one at Autozone. I thought it sounded like crap. I took it out and got the Gatorback and it sounded a lot better.

Yea, and Autozone usually has deals on them. I got mine for like $15 on sale.

i got the more expensive (i think it was 30 or 40$) dayco from advance and its nice and quiet and it looks like its high quality too compared to the oem belt. when my tensioner was sticking like yours i replaced it with one from a junk yard. one thing you could try before you replace it is load the spring up with wd 40 and work it back and forth like 20 times. that may get it to spring it back like it should. you should be able to see the spring through a hole on the side, thats where i would spray the wd 40.

I've been useing PB blaster on it for a while. Finally replaced it today. Much better. Diden't buy the belt yet, my belt is still in good shape, but whines. Sounds like the majority of votes is for the gator belt. I'll do it when I find a shroud. Thanks guys.

you might have gotten some of that pb crap on the belt and thats whats making it sing. are you sure its a belt and not one of your pulleys? while you have the belt off spin each pulley so you can listen to and feel the bearings for wear.
