Hi to everyone here
yes a new member just picked up a new to me Ram with a perfect body but we have lots of deer and elk out here and I would like to keep the body clean, so who has a grille guard and what brand, and do you think it would hold up to a good sized buck?
My grille guard is a bolt on type, and while pretty beefy, would realistically cause more damage than if I hit something without it. I would imagine it getting pushed back into the headlights and the hood, rather than just the bumper being damaged in a light collision.
Do not get a bumper replacement. Original bumpers are designed to take the impact of the collision. Those big replacement bumpers do not take the impact. They remain perfectly intact. Why is this a problem? Because they are mounted to your frame. Light collision with a replacement bumper can bend your frame and total your vehicle. All in all its up to you but I would recommend getting a guard not a replacement. Besides the replacements add a ton of weight to your front end and I have heard they tear up your front suspension.
I think he means it will just put more stress on all the parts. That will in turn lead to more break downs along the way. Trucks are made to carry weight in the back, not so much in the front. I think a V8 is heavy enough without adding more weight to it. Our V8s are cast iron, not like the light weight aluminum & plastic V8s of today.
